An incredible line up of speakers from across the globe to talk about their experiences of diving at the edges of the world, the bottom of the sea and limits of human physiology.
Divers will not want to miss our 'Diving On The Edge (of Adventure, Technology & Medicine)' event which is bringing together an incredible line up of internationally renowned speakers from across the world, to talk about their own wide ranging experiences of the extremes of diving including: remote places, underwater living, deep diving and the limits of diving physiology.
Confirmed speakers at this unique event include;
- TV presenter and marine biologist Monty Halls, who has dived and filmed in some extremely remote underwater locations. He will be talking about 'Mysteries of the Deep'
- Technical diver and Associate Professor Simon Mitchell, from New Zealand, talking about Rebreather technology and his experiences as a diver and a doctor.
- Women Diver Hall of Fame member Dr Caroline Fife, a specialist in hyperbaric medicine from the USA, who has worked with underwater habitat Hydrolab II and the Institute of Nautical Archaelogy, amongst many others. Her talk is intriguingly entitled 'The not so ancient history of scientific diving; from Aqua Naughties to Nefertiti'.
- Hugh Miller, a TV cameraman specialising in underwater filming, who has worked on many BBC wildlife programmes including Frozen Planet, Africa and Planet Earth.
DDRC Healthcare, your hosts for the day, will be presenting on our knowledge and research into divers' health. Diving Doctors will be joined by 2 previous patients, including an experienced diver and ex-marine who was treated for a severe bend which left him temporarily paralysed. Our research team will also be presenting on years of diver research in an imperfect world!
